2006 Resolutions. . . . . .

We had a great Christmas 2005. We spent a couple of days in Midland with both mine and Mike's family and the kids got plenty of spoiling. We are so blessed to have extended families that love our kids so much.

For New Year's we headed to Dallas for the Cotton Bowl and my mom kept the kids. It was a good break for Mike and I. We did lots of shopping, which the boys loved, but then the boys were able to go to the Cowboy game while Kristin and I just put our PJs on and watched a movie at our hotel. The Cotton Bowl didn't end the way we wanted to but we really enjoyed getting to go.

As I start 2006 there are so many things I want to work on to make myself a better person. I hate resolutions because I think they are made to be broken, but that is the best word I can think of. So, here are my top 5 2006 resolutions.

1) To spend more quite time with God, praying and reading His word. I never stop long enough to have quite time and I think that can really effect your daily walk.

2) To be a more available and patient wife and mother. I never want to put anything before my family but I find myself putting daily schedules and chores before their needs.

3) To be kind to everyone and tame my tongue. There are not many people who I can say I have never heard anything bad about (The Celeste Scott's and Karen Nash's out there), and I cannot imagine the feeling of being a good person in everyone's eyes. What a praise and glory to God that would be.

4) To slow down and enjoy life. I am always planning for the next trip, holiday, event, etc and I never take the time to enjoy today and smell the roses. I don't want to look back when my kids are 20 and say I don't remember their childhood.

5) Last but not least, be healthy and the best I can be to myself, which in turn will be the best for everyone around me.

Happy New Year to all of you!

Goodness, Ape...that was too nice. I want you to know that I pray to be half the mother you are if we are ever blessed in that way. I would have quite an act to follow!

Great ideas April! I'm sure we can all learn from your examples of good goals this year. Here's another to add to your list: call Murrays when in Dallas.
