Kellan started getting a cold on Monday and a bad cough. By Tuesday morning I was trying to get him into the pediatrician because he had problems breathing all night. My pediatrician could not get him in until today. It is a little bit of a sore subject that your Dr can't get you in if your baby is 6 weeks old and is struggeling breathing. Well, last night Kellan's face turned this awful blue and it scared me to death so Mike and I took him to the ER. They did an RSV test and chest X-ray. He is negative for RSV but has an upper respiratory infection, which we can do nothing about at this point because Kellan is too young for antibiotics. The ER Dr said that most likely Kyler and Kole have a simple cold but in babies it can be so much worse. The Dr said don't let Kyler and Kole touch him. I understand that, but really how possible is that ?!? They love their little brother and all they want to do it kiss on him. I feel so helpless, Kellan now has no voice so his cry is silent. It is the saddest sounding thing. He continues to cough really bad and has only eaten 5 oz in 24 hours, which he usually eats 4 oz a feeding, so it is just killing me to see him hurt. He actually continues to be such a sweet boy through this even. It could be so much worse. He will sleep for like 2 hr intervals so at least we are getting some sleep.
Kyler and Kole continue to love school and are being great helpers. I have to leave you with just a few pictures of my precious angels. . . . .

I hate taking babies to the ER!!! So sorry ya'll had to go through that, but I'm glad he's ok.
Oh man! I just ready your blog. I am SO sorry. That breaks my heart. I am so glad he is better though. You guys take care!
How scary! I hope he feels better soon.
I feel your pain...really! We have dealt with that so much already! I hope he gets better soon!
So sorry. It's so hard when little ones are sick. I hope he gets better soon and that you get some rest.
I know personally how it feels to look at your newborn's face and know how sick they are and you can't do anything about it. When Lena was born, she had to go into the Children's Hospital for 48 hours because of 101.2 degree fever. When we got there, they said she was dehydrated, all because my milk had not come in. I had to spend the next 48 hours with my 3 day old in the hospital with IV's in her. I know how scared you must have been. Of course, ever since that little stay in the hospital, Lena has been pretty healthy little girl. I pray that Kellan gets better soon.
Praying for all of you. Love you!
So sorry you had to go through that scare. It is a hard situation to be in....the whole sharing germs with a newborn thing. Occasionally, I would put Dean in his bouncer, and put that in the pack n play so the older ones could not touch him. Dean didn't seem to care at all. Andie had her first ER visit about that same age - so sorry. My whole crew shared an upper respiratory infection last week - me included. That's the 1st time I'd ever caught something from the kids. So glad it wasn't RSV.
I'm sorry your sweet baby is sick! I hope he's feeling better soon and that you all get as many hugs and kisses as you'd like. Sounds aweful. :(
I'm so sorry!
I hope you have a healthy little one very soon.
Love,
Celeste
poor lil dude.........and mamma! hope all is better soon. sweet pictures!
Hope you have a happier baby today! There is so many little colds going around right now that really turn serious fast for little ones. Your situation is a good reminder to me to protect my baby. I am a litte to relaxed about the germ thing and a newborn. I know they can get sick so easy.
In reference to your comment you left on my blog (I don't want people to think I'm laughing that your son was sick...that's not funny) but yes, we do have a lot of similiarities in our lives! The only difference is that your the baby, and I'm the middle one! Who would have thought back then in our dorm days that we would share that someday!
I looked at Madi's schedule, and they won't play each other. She is on the ponytails. Too bad, that would have been so fun!
