I cannot believe my baby will be four years old today! They are not kidding when they say time flies. It just seems like yesterday that I was so excited to get pregnant and find out I was having a girl. I thought I would recap our lives this time four years ago.
It was Saturday night, August 3, and we had gone to 50th Street Caboose (yes, I liked it back then too) for dinner. I had been on bed rest for about two weeks due to high blood pressure and early contractions. Mike and I were living with my sister while we had a house built. At like 1:30 am that night I got up with the worst stomach ache and began to vomit. I thought it was just something I ate but it would not stop. Mike and Jill (my sister) were dead to the world and had no clue I was up sick. I finally woke Mike up at 4:30 am and said I felt horrible. He woke Jill up b/c he didn't know what to do. Jill called my Dr who proceeded to say that we needed to get straight to L&D b/c it is not good for a pregnant person to be throwing up that much at the end of pregnancy.
It was about 5:00 am, Sunday morning August 4, when we got to L&D. My blood pressure was like 164/123 and I had a real high protein count in my urine, plus I was dehydrated. They informed me that I would not be going home and I would possibly be having Kyler today or tomorrow. I freaked out! I said it's not time yet. I still had 4 1/2 weeks to go but they said my body was not able to carry a baby anymore. I then had to have an amniocentesis to see the size of the baby and let the Dr's know what they were dealing with. Kyler was breach so they scheduled a C-section for Monday, August 5. The specialist and my OB were already a little worried because Kyler did not look very big in the sonogram but her lungs appeared ok. Mike and I were so nervous that night at the hospital.
On Monday, August 5, Kyler was born at 1:37 p.m, 17 1/2 inches long, 4 lbs and 15 oz. She had problems breathing so she was put on oxygen and had to go to NICU. We stayed at the hospital for three days and Kyler was sent home on an apnea monitor but other than that, was tiny, but ok. She was and is the biggest blessing. She was such a good baby. She slept through the night at 6 weeks and barely ever cried. I think it was being a first child and getting all of our attention.
These last four years have been such a learning and rewarding time. Thank you God for allowing us to watch over Kyler for you while she is on earth. I am so thankful for the joy she brings us. She is a ball of energy and continues to make me smile with the things she says and the way she already loves Jesus! Proverbs 22:6 "Train a child in the way she should go and when she is old she will not turn from it."
